Van Sickle paint

Postby brewzalot » Sun Mar 04, 2018 12:34 am

van sickle red - Copy.JPG

Surprisingly, found this at a newly opened Big R store here in Burlington Wisconsin. Looks like it got pretty good reviews on older posts (if its the same paint?) , was just curious if anyone has tried it lately, noticed any changes in it, or has a comment on it. Looking for a value alternative to the Case brand.

I found the reason TSC calls their paint Majic is because the deep red color tends to "disappear" over time :)

thanks

I've never tried that paint, when I restored mine I used Rust-Oleum farm paint, quarts and spray cans, actually use paint from the quart, thinned out and through my hvlp gravity feed gun to paint hood and fenders, paint has held nicely and with no fading, used majic brand paint once on a tiller I restored, ill never use it again

Oh and what's good with the Rust-Oleum, it's readily available from tsc, lowes and home depot

I picked up 9 cans of Rust-Oleum IH Red at a factory buyout store a few weeks ago for $2 each. I'm thinking I'll use 'em sooner or later. Already used most of one on the home made parts I've been making.

Nah, it's not leaking oil. It's just marking it's territory.

I use and really like Van Sickle paint. I think the colors are quite true and they hold their color really well and withstand fading. I guess my only complaint is that it takes a long time to dry.

I have been using it too.
been mixing about 25% hardner to 75% paint with no reduceing.
when dry the paint shines well and is very hard and greese and oil wipe off easily
