new and confused

Postby ginger » Thu Mar 22, 2018 4:02 pm

Hi everyone, my name is Mike and I just registered and have no idea how to use this site or where to even start. The more rules I read the more confused I get ! I just purchased my first Farmall Cub with a front end loader on it and wanted to join this group to learn and share.

YEA!! :{_}: :{_}: :{_}: Welcome! Stanton will probably come along and send you some "welcome" info, but just keep clicking around, and you will find a lot of good info. I especially like reading the posts in the HOW TO section...click on BOARD INDEX, scroll down to the HOW TO Forum...lots of good tips there!

Also, when you get a chance, post some photos...we love photos! (there is a post somewhere about how to do that, too!)

Oh, and there is an INTRODUCTION section where you can tell us a bit about yourself, your cub, where you are, what you do...whatever you would like to share!

Welcome to the Forum. Dale pretty much said it all. Just browse around, you'll find lots of information. One more post and you can access the manuals at the Quick Links tab (top left corner of this page). Free, downloads for just about anything you might want for a Cub.

Welcome.

Site members are an eclectic group. Some are excellent mechanics, others are experts in other areas.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Select Board Index, scroll down to Introduce Yourself sub forum or click on this link: viewforum.php?f=14 Your zip code indicates western PA, Check out one or more of the Cubfests that are held in the northeast every year. You'll be introduced to some of the best people, good mechanics and more Cub knowledge than you can absorb in one weekend.

Hi,
Below is a page from a Cub owner's manual showing where the tractor and engine serial numbers are. When you find them, write them down, and look at the top of the page at Cub Info, you can find the year the tractor serial number was made at either, What Year is my Cub?, or Serial Number Lookup.
The engine serial number is not used for identifying the year, unless there is no serial number plate.
Only in 1947 was the engine serial number the same as the tractor serial number. :)

This post, found under the FARMALL CUB section, will probably get you started on some first tasks.

The Cubfests that staninlowerAL mentioned, are also founder under the FARMALL CUB section, then 2018 CubFest & Farmall Tractor Show Calendar
http://farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=98212
They are a lot of fun, you meet some great folks, you learn a lot, and you might even get something accomplished on your own cub or component!! Check them out!

Mike, welcome to the site the guys on the site have vast knowledge of Farmall Cubs as well as International Cubs, Loboys, Cub Cadets, Cub Cadet number series and all things Cub related like implements and such. So fire away with questions no question is to simple or stupid to ask. The answers are usually posted quite quickly and are very helpful. This is an awesome group and these guys have helped me countless times. Occasionally even I know the answer  So good luck with your Cub they can get a lot of work done and are fun to operate. Just be careful and read owners manual and pay attention to safety warnings. Enjoy your Cub.
Chuck

Welcome
The one thing l didn't see is the year of your Cub. You can find the serial number plate on the right side mounted near where the steering wheel shaft connects at the front (bolster).
See l've learned a lot of terminology from the experts here. Really it is all great information.
Once you post the serial number and year, someone will come along with a link for the proper owner's manual, and we'll all advise you to read it. Also at the top of this forum is a thread on "what to do to a cub you just brought home". That's as good a place to start as any.

Good luck
Hutch
