Hint
One person is 15 too high and another person is 15 to low.

That oughta keep the math folks busy.

Good thing my back is bothering me today. I wrote down all the previous guesses. So, now I can spend some time looking for the 30 point spread. Wait, that might be a 31 point spread. Correct number plus or minus 15. And then, wait until tomorrow to post my guess.

Well, it looks like the hint worked pretty fast.

JimCub48 nailed it with 66 sets. Although his answer to the second answer was somewhat drawn out he did say Harley carb.

The whole thing was nothing more than a guessing game in that I was only looking for total wedge set. Of course guessing the weight of the truck would have helped, that really wasn’t needed.

Here is the weight slip.
cans 1.jpg

If you take the weight and multiply by 31 cans (average) cans per pound you get a total of 11,625 cans. Divide 11,625 cans by 175 (cans needed per set) you have 66.42857142857143 sets, or 66 complete sets.

Congratulations Jim, PM your info and I will send the cap. Or you could stop in at the Bash in June and I will hand it to you.

"you have 66.42857142857143 sets"
Bill, couldn't you carry that out a few more decimals for accuracy? :D

Hold on a second. First off we don't know what the melted down weight/volume was. 2nd issue is that even if Rick could pour most of the aluminum, there has to be some left in the crucible.

Any way. A contest is just that, a contest. Thanks.
