I would imagine these High Powered Engine's would prefer the smaller diameter tire's.

I have 9.5 on a '77 cub and the Bush hog mower hits the tires when raised with the tires set at the most narrow setting 44 inch I think .

This is actually the third set of tires on this Cub. Originally it had turf tires on it, which I switched over to my Loboy, as it was the mower at the time. Here's what it looked like with the 8.3's on it:

Later on I found another Cub with near-new 9.5 long-bar-short-bar Kelly Springfield tires on it, and swapped them on to this tractor. I prefer the look of the larger tire:

Last fall I replaced the Renault LeCar front tires with Deestone Tri-ribs from Simple Tire.

I have 8.3x24 ag on my fcub. I’m using farmall A rear wheel centers and 10” wide rims with two fcub wheel centers to adapt the 11.2x24 ag tires. I’m not sure where they are going on yet. They would look neat on my swamp buggy jeep cj. One of my cubs will get two.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

Since changing the tire size also impacts the forward speed (gear ratio) I guess that would change how an implement interacts with the tractor. Larger tires and more forward speed per PTO rotation = mowing implements having to take a bigger bite.
Non-PTO implements probably wouldn't care as the tractor could be slowed down by using a lower throttle setting (provided you don't fall off the torque curve)
I'm thinking mowing tractors may prefer the larger tires??? Or does this depend on the engine HP? Is larger tires on a lower RPM engine good or bad?

If anything a mower tractor would prefer SMALLER tires. Lower ground speed. Less rotating mass. Less power required to move leaving more to run the mower. You won't cover the ground as fast but in thick grass it will allow you to take a wider cut with the mower deck.

I mow 3.2 acres with my numbered series and am always looking for ways to cover more acres per hour. Increasing the ground speed is desirable, and so far, horsepower has not been an issue running the 3160A.
I suppose that if the tractor is a lower HP cub (earlier year) then slower may be a benefit, but that is what first gear is made for.

I like the smaller tires for mowing. My 2.mower cubs are 8.3 and garden cubs are 9.5
