Sprayer pump question

Postby alott943 » Fri Jun 08, 2018 8:58 pm

I'm wanting to build a boom sprayer for my cub. I would really like to put a pto driven pump on it instead of a 12v. I know that a cubs pto turns opposite of a normal tractor. So my question is, does anyone know if they make a sprayer pump that will work on a cubs pto?

You’d have to get an adapter to fit the Cub PTO shaft but that pump can be bought in either direction.

Do you know where to find an adapter?

RPM's may be a problem.

Agri-Supply should have adapters, but I'm not sure about something to adapt to the Cub PTO. A machine shop could make you one pretty easily.

I don't think the RPM will be an issue. We have a tractor with a transmission-driven PTO and as such it only is "supposed" to work in low range. We figured out we could tie the shifter in high range and it would stay in gear. When we did, we had a PTO running at engine speed! We sprayed lots of corn and beans with it like that for years using the same pump.

It called a Hub City 0332-00355 and about $50 bucks at the dealer. You may find it online other places but they usually do not have them in stock for the price listed. I just purchased 2

I looked into this last year and a 12-volt system will be far less expensive even if you have a 6v cub and have to purchase a deep discharge marine battery and change it with a battery charger
When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

Many PTO sprayer pumps are designed to run in either direction and 540 or 1000 RPM PTO.

A small sprayer pump doesn't need much HP. I would bet that you could just use a smooth bore 1" adapter or maybe even slightly undersize, and the cross pin.
