It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something.

This is how I wired Rocky ( 1949), using a 3 position light switch and fuse holder in the dash;

Per expert advice, I taped off the L wire. Works perfect!

sorry I don't have a wiring diagram.

Hi,
What years of Cubs is the switch for, there were 4 position light switches used, starting in 1958, that are only light switches. They do not control the generator charge rate.

The cutout, or Relay system, IH calls it, was not used after 1950.
They originally had a 4 position switch for the Relay charging system, if you have a Relay system.
That is what Bill's diagram above shows.

I think Rockfarmer has a voltage regulator that is mounted on the generator. That was not used by IH.
IH used the Relay on top of the gen.

Glen is correct, I have a VR mounted on top of the generator, not a relay. That's why I used a 3 position switch, which allowed me to insert a fuse holder into the dash.

The original 4 position light switch has the fuse holder mounted on back, which you probably already know, and is shown in the above wiring diagram.

Just getting back to this. I have everything but I'm not clear on where the field wire from the generator goes on the switch.
Thanks in advance!
