Cleaning new gas cap.

Postby LRiddle » Fri Jul 13, 2018 9:50 pm

I have a recall gas cap that I believe is dirty and not allowing the tank vent. Any ideas on cleaning it out that won't strip the paint?

Is it the current model recall cap. I believe there were early versions that were replaced with later versions. May be worth a call to the cap vendor to verify if it’s an early one or the current model.

Definitely newer. I got it not more than 4 years ago.

Have you tried a torch tip cleaner. Should have a real small one that will fit the vent holes in the cap.

Remove gas cap from tractor, Blow compressed air into the top of the cap.
Use a nozzle with a rubber tip to clear each hole.
