Adding hydraulics to a 1948 Cub

Postby hoytd » Tue Jul 24, 2018 12:35 pm

I have the chance to buy a 1948 cub with a sickle mower. It does not have hydraulics. Is it hard to add hydraulics? Hard to find the parts? Would really like them and then add the one point hitch, etc.
Thanks in advance!

It may be less expensive, in the long run, to find a Cub that already has Touch Control and Fast Hitch.

I assume you're talking about the touch control and that's about right. OP mentioned a 1 point hitch by which I think he means Fast Hitch. The lowest I've seen a Fast Hitch was $350. So would total $600 + time.

Could probably do better buying a tractor that already had the Fast Hitch.

This is a perfect opportunity to justify the purchase of another cub!

Unless you know what you are doing it is very easy to purchase a fast hitch off the tractor with a few missing pieces which will cost a good deal to replace. At least if it is on the tractor you can see if work and you might as well get the whole tractor at that point.

Besides, it is a well-known fact that Cub's like company. They do better if there are other Cubs around.

Thanks for all the advise. In my search I have learned a lot. Mainly buy what you want to start with, I will take my time and keep looking. There is always a deal around the next corner.

Yeah putting hydraulics on one is easy to do but pricey. I got 3 cubs and one with manual lift. That's my mower.
