napa coil help

Postby yellercub » Fri Aug 31, 2018 6:02 pm

When I bought my 1970 Cub a couple of weeks ago the seller gave me some extras among which there was a new coil in a NAPA box. The box says NAPA ECHLIN IC13 The coil says 27290 use with external resistor made in usa and 0102. I am not having any luck googling ,so was was hoping someone here might know if this coil will work on my cub. :help:

For 12v you will need an external resistor, 6v no. They have a coil with internal resistor.

What you have is a 6 volt ignition coil. If you are going to use it on a 12 volt system, you need an external resistor.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Just did a search using “NAPA +coil” on here and got quite a few hits. Check it out.

I'm running a NAPA internal resister 12v coil, don't remember the number though. Works great with no issues.
Waking up the ol' Cub

Nah, it's not leaking oil. It's just marking it's territory.
