Woods 42 On a Farmall Cub

Postby T-Mo » Mon Oct 01, 2018 11:50 am

I recently traded for a Woods 42 belly mower. I have the manual, but it's hard to tell where the mower mule drive bolts to the final drives of the tractor. BTW, I have a '50 standard Cub that it will go on, if that makes a difference. If anyone has pictures of theirs mounted, please post them here. If it's the same as the Woods 59 mower, I had one of those, so I know about where the 59 mounts to. But pictures of a 42 would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

It clamps onto the drawbar side plates. Look here:

As mentioned in that link, it is probably easier to assemble everything off the tractor. That way you can loosen all the bolts until everything is in place, then tighten them down. With the implement bolts backed out, you SHOULD be able to hook the rear of the brackets onto the rear implement bolts while holding the whole assembly almost vertical, then lower the drawbar to engage the forward implement bolts on each side. Then you tight down the TAPERED implement bolts really tight!

Oh, and loosen the idler pulley bolts while assembly is off. They need to slide up and down to get the belt on.

I meant to tell you how to mount it. It will be easier if you remove the drawbar, mount the mule drive, then put the drawbar back on.
Eight Cubs-finally got a '57.

I think I got it mounted - I didn't have to take the drawbar off though. The 59 mower mule drive was mounted above the drawbar and was clamp around the drawbar mounting brackets. The image from the link above was the same as the way the 59 mower mule drive was mounted. I mounted the mule drive for the 42 the same way. I haven't mounted the deck yet, so we're see what happens when I do. Sometimes life gets in the way of doing too much at one time. Spent most of Sunday at the hospital due to my wife's sister-in-law having been admitted there, and yesterday was a work day for me, but did get a few minutes in the garage to mess with the mule drive a bit.
