Question on 6 Volt Generator

Postby The Riot » Mon Oct 01, 2018 2:51 pm

Hello All,
I converted my Voltage Regulator on my 1963 6 volt positive ground Cub to a Clover Systems DRM, Electronic Dynamo Regulator. It worked very well for a year or so but now my amp meter shows discharge when the tractor is running.

Here's my questions:

1) How can I test the generator directly to see if it's charging

2) What's the best way to determine if my generator is working properly or is it something else

3) What's the best way to determine if my new gizmo the DRM is working properly

4) Does anyone have any experience with the Clover Systems DRM and how to adjust it properly

5) Any and all advice on how to diagnose why I'm getting a discharge and correct the problem is greatly appreciated.

Thanks to all,

The Riot

The best way to test the generator directly is to ground the field terminal on the generator. If it charges it's OK if not probably the regulator is bad, although it could be something else.
