How difficult is it to add Touch Control hydraulics to a Cub that does not have it?

Related to this: was Touch Control available from the beginning? I've watched an old promotional film on YouTube that shows the implements being lifted by a large hand lever.

And I see Cubs for sale on CL and other online sites without TC. Was TC an option from the beginning?

It’s not hard at all to add it. It can get expensive and you need every part from a donor tractor. It wasn’t available at first but the early Cubs were designed for it with all the holes in the right places. The hand lift works good for most implements.

Not that difficult. Go to the PDF manuals, Cub Manuals, Cub Optional Equipment Manuals, and you will find one for the Touch-Control. That manual has the full installation instructions. Touch-Control was announced as a future option when the Cub was introduced. It was a year or so before it was available.

Some people keep the touch control to operate a forward implement, and keep the hand lift installed to operate the rear implement separately.

I added Touch Control to my '48. It didn't even come to me with a manual lift.

Really not too bad of a job. I bought the pump, touch control and lever from Ethan that advertises on this site. Picked up the rear rock shaft and link from another seller.

Couple things to know:
1) Holes in the bell housing had small corks inserted at the factory. Any that are left need to be dug out.
2) Lots of coats of paint on the bell housing make those 1/2" holes seem like 7/16". A 1/2 x 13 tap will come in handy to clean them out.

You'll probably want new gaskets for the pump to crankcase and for where the lines bolt to the touch control.

I watched Rachel Gingell's YouTube video of her overhauling a Touch Control. Doesn't look difficult.
