Charging System
I just purchased my first cub and I have a problem (I think). According to the tractor meter, it is not charging. I checked the voltage at the battery while it was running and my meter indicated 12 to 14 volts. It is a 6 volt system, it should be 8 volts. What could be the problem, a bad tractor meter.

Re: Charging System
If you are using a digital meter try an analog meter. Brush noise in the generator confuses most digital meters, though most will work at battery unless brush noise is extreme or battery is totally junk.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
you are part of the problem!!!

So far, Paul and Ringo have arrived. John and George were supposed to follow ages ago, but apparently have gone awol. Long story. - Circle of Safety: Y

And anything earlier could have been changed to 12v. Really, anything could have been done to it in the last 70 years. Post some pictures of what you’ve got if you’re in doubt and surely these fine folks can figure it out.

When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!
