Hello

my hood looks just like the one in the pic including the 2 holes for oiling the generator.
What year was this type of hood used? Mine also has the 3 ribs along the sides.
Sorry for double pics.

There were small variations to the 3-rib hood. But one version or the other of the 3-rib hood was used from 1947 through late 1954.

Is you Cub a Loboy for sure?

Hi,
The manuals show that the style of hood in your pics was never used on a LoBoy.
Like Jim said, it was used on earlier Farmall Cubs.

Below are pics from the Cub and LoBoy parts manual, showing some of the different styles, and the serial numbers when they were made.
The first pic shows the hood with 3 ribs on each side.

http://www.farmallcub.info/manuals/cub_ ... 000-11.jpg

This pic below shows the first LoBoy style, in the lower pic, beginning in 1955. It has the style of hood and grille the Farmall Cub had then.
I don't know what your serial number is, they made this style until serial number 10000.
10000 was during 1958, so some 1958s were the 2nd style of hood and grille.

http://www.farmallcub.info/manuals/cub_ ... 000-13.jpg

The pic of the Farmall Cub above in the 1st link is easier to see, on my computer, the lower pic on the page.

This pic below shows the 2nd style of LoBoy.

http://www.farmallcub.info/manuals/cub_ ... 000-14.jpg

The LoBoys have their own serial numbers, don't use the Farmall Cub serial numbers for them.
The serial number list is at the top of the page at Cub Info, then go to Serial Number Lookup. At the bottom of that page you can go to the LoBoy serial numbers.

In the pics I posted above you can see the difference in the height, to identify which you have. The 1st pic shows the Farmall Cub has long front spindle tubes, the upright tubes from the front axle down to the hubs.
The Loboys in the other pics have short spindle tubes.
The tractor model was originally on the serial number plate, but the color sometimes fades off the plates.
Below is a pic from TM Tractor of a LoBoy serial number plate. :)

My id plate reads
International Cub Lo Boy #7xxx J(Rockford).
So the cub is a 1958 Lo Boy.

Hello
Thanks for all the replies.
The cub was given to me just to get it out of the barn, brought it home, added battery, got it running, little smokey.
Engine casting numbers reveal it is a 1948 c60,also the engine has been sleeved(I posted pics of engine on here awhile ago).
Seems like I have a hybrid Cub which is fine with me,I am determined to put it all together whether original or not.
Like the old Johnny Cash song One Piece At A Time.(You younger guys google the song).

Could be a 1948 Cub with a replacement bolster from a Loboy. I think that may be why Don asked for a pic.
