I acquired a 1951 Cub with the high crop option. The rear tires (30 inch) are too pricey for me. I have since put 24s on the rear and the 12s on the front. Is there a market for the 15s and 30s that were on the tractor. If there is, any thoughts on value?. This is for the wheels and tires, front tires like new rear major splits and cracks.
Thanks,
Des

30 inch tires
The best deal I could find was $240.00 each plus the cost of tubes and shipping. I had a friend who has a couple of parts cubs and he gave me the front 12 inch tires and rims and I had a set of 9X24 tires from a MH Pony I parted out and put them on the rear. The end result is I have like new rubber all around and it didn't cost me a dime. Now what to do with the 15 & 30 inch rims and tires

Traffic on here is a little light during the holidays, so it may be a little whiel before you get many responces, but if you are also including the extensions that go with the rear rims, there will be a lot of interest form people that have always wanted a high crop.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Extensions
I do not believe I will part with the extensions. The Cub has the wide front end and with the extensions off the rear wheels would be too narrow. Maybe I should just sell the whole cub as a high crop and start over. The guy that gave me the tractor ( can you believe someone giving a running tractor away) is looking for the original papers that his dad had when he special ordered the tractor in 1951

You mean to say that he gave you this Cub For nothing Really I would say that you got one heck of a deal -- steal
If he does find the original bill of sale, would you be kind enought to post it? I would like to see that

high crop
I really felt bad about getting it for free ( really ) . He knew I liked playing with tractors and approached me asking if I wanted his fathers old tractor that had been in the barn for the last 20 years. It was in a barn on the eastern shore of Virginia. The problem was the salt air really pitted the fenders and the floor pan. Everything else was fine. I still have not figured out why the hood and gas tank didn'r pit with rust. Changed all the fluids, filter, new battery, new points cap and rotor. Then cranked engine over to prime the oil good, when pressure registered turned ignition on and it purred smoothly !
The downside is my wife can not understand why I have 4 tractors and my yard isn't big enough for a riding mower much less a tractor.

It would be kind of a shame to break up the package. You hardly ever see the whole thing on one tractor.

Please don't split it up. Sell the tractor as it came from the factory and buy what you really want. That tractor is a rare piece of IH history and it truly would be a shame to dismemeber it. Being you got it for nothing, you should be able to purchase another Cub and just restore the hi-cropper for shows.
