Parts help, Dimensions needed

Postby Figo40 » Wed Nov 13, 2019 12:48 pm

Hi All,
I was wondering if someone out there could give me the diminsions of the front lifting rod on an early mcCormick - Deering leveling and grader blade.
I would like to try and bend one up before searching for one. it is part 9 in the picture on page 7 of the manual.
Thanks

I have a 48 leveling blade, and can probably draw up the part in question tomorrow., Saturday latest. I was not able to open the image in your post, so I’m not exactly certain which part you need. If you give me the part number, I can look it up in my parts manual and go from there. Ed

So far, Paul and Ringo have arrived. John and George were supposed to follow ages ago, but apparently have gone awol. Long story.

Not sure if this matches the model you are working on, but there’s lots of dimensional information here:

Yes this is the one, if you look closely at the front mount diagram you will see that the front lifting rod is double bent. That is what I am looking for,
all dimensions for that rod.

I've had two of the early blades with what I presume were OEM rods, and neither had the double bend. Mine both took a washer and cotter pin to hold the rod in place.

I have 2 rods, both Z shaped, no double bends. They are 20.5" and 23.75" long, center to center. The rods appear to be interchangeable, but on my plow, the rod between the blade and the rocker arm - the one further forward - is 23.75". The shorter of my 2 rods has a dogleg in it, but I suspect that it is damage, not original. I'm almost certain that this is the plow that originally came with my '48.
