Deluxe seat

Postby Taxwise12 » Sat Jan 04, 2020 4:05 pm

I have a ‘48 cub that has the usual pan seat with cushion. Over time the cushion has held water and it has rusted the base out and it’s time to be replaced. I’m thinking about replacing it with a deluxe seat. I know that I need the seat frame and both brackets. What do y’all think about this?

The deluxe seat is more expensive but also a lot more comfortable if you get a quality seat cushion (the oem cushion had zig-zag springs in it).

You will also need to replace your shift lever with the bent one.

When I had my Cub I put a deluxe on it. I loved it, much more comfortable than the pan!

Hi,
Below are pics from TM Tractor of the bent gear shift lever for use with the Deluxe seat.
It has different parts in it than a standard gear shift, to hold the bend in the ahead position. :)

You need a quality cushion with the springs to be as comfortable as the pogo. Steiner has then. A cheaper cushion without the right springs it is not as comfortable.

I find a pogo with the mount cleaned and lubed and a cushion pan seat with a hole and the deluxe seat with the right cushion are about the same comfort level.

I do think the deluxe seat crowds the "operator area". If takes up more space and for me makes it a little harder to get on and off.

I didn’t even know for years there was a pan seat - every one in our neighborhood had deluxe seats. Not sure I could stay on one of those pogo stick seats.

Nuttin wrong with the pan seats. beats no seat at all. Only 1 of mine has the deluxe jobby on it, I am not fond of it, always hitting my elbows on the side of it, bent gearshift not easy to use either. TRADE YA!!!! LOL!!!

It appears that when the deluxe came out, it was a very popular update on Super As. I have never seen a lot of Cubs with them. But they are much nicer.

I bought this Cub a while back. It had the deluxe aftermarket bucket seat.

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Both are very comfortable in there own ways. But like others have said, take apart and clean and lube seat post well and buy the nice pan with brass drain grommet in cushion. Also big difference in the quality of the frame work for the actual seat pad for the deluxe model. Don’t forget the clip on arm rests. There nice. I grew up on the deluxe seat on a 62 deluxe. Loved it. Jmho :tractor:
