((RARE)) CUB FASTHITCH ATTACHMENTS??

Postby BSR » Sat Feb 15, 2020 1:32 pm

I came across this attachment and like to know if anyone has one or seen one? JOHN R. HOLLINGSWORTH made military generators. About 90min from me here in NEPA.
Any info would be appreciated.

Ask the seller for a closeup, readable, photo of the ID tag located on the left side of the generator head.
I have an excuse. CRS.

Have seen the brochure, not one in person always wondered if any were still out there. Is this one actually for a cub? Is in your hand or for sale somewhere? I would be really interested.

This has my attention. I’d probably grab this or one like it if opportunity arose.
I’ve heard the Cubs pto spins in the opposite direction of most and I assume as this was made for a Cub it’s compatible. What other pto driven generators like Tiger ? Would it need a reverser?
I also have an early A and a SA with ptos. I haven’t given pto use much thought beyond mowing or after market. I don’t know if the cub and A, SA spin in different directions.
Does it matter to the generator which direction it spins? Do you have to run it at max rpm to work?
You can’t alway count on a generator to start and run in a pinch but I’m confident with owning 6 tractors one of them will start despite the efforts of Murphy’s law. I’m a big fan of having a backup plan and these pto driven generators seem like a no brainer.

Cub spins opposite most, if not all, other tractors.

There's a photo in the Lo Boy sales brochure on Rudy's old site of a different fast-hitch generator that ran off the PTO belt pulley.

The Cub, and a few Kubotas, have PTOs that run counter-clockwise, although the Kubota's RPM is much lower than the Cub's, which runs at engine speed.
If only Mrs. Hoyt and Mrs. Clagwell had gotten along...

Real easy to tell if it's for a Cub, check the PTO shaft. If it's 10-spline, approximately 1" diameter, then it is for a Cub.

PTO generators have to be run at a certain RPM to get the correct frequency for the electricity. It's always a multiple of 60, for the 60Hz power we use in North America. Common for generators to run at 3600, though some PTO generators only run at 1800.

That is a NEAT attachment. Never seen one. I've more than once threatened to build something similar using a generator head from Harbor Freight.

hello from the soggy deep south , NICE find , the page from the brochure is clearly for a cub . matt kirsch's suggestion is a good one , i would think these were made for several different brands of tractor , so the shaft where it connects to the PTO would need to be inspected closely . coppersmythe............................
