Rockshaft lift bar straight vs offset

Postby kjoiner » Sat Mar 07, 2020 1:47 pm

I want to add a rockshaft assembly to my 1949 Cub. How do I know whether I should get the straight or offset lift bar?

Thanks!

Kyle

The straight bar was intended for tractors with the short eared instrument panel. Either can be used on any tractor, but clearance for the straight rod is tight on an early tractor.

Here is a picture of my instrument panel. I think it's a short ear. Is that correct? Can I use a straight rod?

That is the short ear on a long ear hood. A straight rod will work.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

When I got my rockshaft I didn't know there were different rods. It came with a straight rod but I have a long eared panel and it rubbed. Was pretty simple to bend a dog leg into it to clear the panel.

Hello,

Thanks for all the great info. My goal is to use the rockshaft for simple implements. Mainly I want a small box blade to groom my gravel driveway but I also think it would be good for a carryall. I realize the smallerv3 point hitch kits have load limitations, but does not having a way to adjust the angle pose problems for a box blade?

Tim Talleur hooked me up with a rockshaft and offset rod. I got them cleaned and painted ready to install. I have a couple of rockshaft bushing questions. How tight should they be? If I ever decide to replace them, are the polymer ones any good?

I've been using injection molded delrin rockshaft bushings that I bought from Barnyard about 6 years ago on my manual lift Cub with zero issues and no appreciable wear.

I have the Delrin bushings in both of mine, they seem fine. Delrin is some mighty tuff stuff!
