174 planter seed plates
Looking for input on seed plates for 174 planter. The planter i bought came with a few plates mostly corn but i was wondering if any one has used this planter for pumpkins? I would like the seeds to drop a bout a foot or two apart then i can thin them out? If any one has done this can you please share the seed disc part number please!

Hi,
Below is the Cub 174 Planter operator's manual, if you don't have it. It has lots of info.
There are lists of seed plates beginning on page 22. It doesn't show pumpkins, that I saw, but there is one for melons and cucumber seeds. It gives the part number there.
I don't know if that will work, but it looks like the closest one in the list.
There are pics of the seed plates beginning on page 25.

I don't know if they will fit but Lincoln Ag Products has IH plates, filler rings and blank plates that can be filed/cut to make a custom plate. I bought some plates from them several years ago for my 185 planter. John

To save you some poking around on Lincoln's site, which isn't well behaved:
https://lincolnagproducts.com/wp-conten ... Packet.pdf
Page 11 talks about pumpkins. They suggest a flat drop plate with a filler ring, which was what I thought was the best approach.
This is from 3 years ago, so the prices on that page are not current.

Re: 174 planter seed plates
Thats good link! I actually ended up taking a plate that came with the planter over to my neighbors and went to work on it with his mill. It went really really well i was surprised how good it went seeing how it was a cast plate. We will see how it performs. Its going to plant to thick but im good with that ill be able to thin them out.
