I need to mount a pair of rear weights on our Cub. What's the correct grade, diameter & length? Black, cad-plated or galvanized? It looks like a carriage bolt is needed to lock into the wheel.

They are 1/2 - 13 X 3" carriage bolts. I'd recommend at least a grade 5.

Thanks Bigdog & Carm--should I try to get either galvanized or cad plated in in grade 5 or is black (and then paint them) OK? Should they be in their original color or red to match the weights?

I would use hot dipped galvanized if available to you. They would be the most expensive of course but should be the easiest to take of if ever it need be done.
