Hypothetical?

Postby Dusty B » Sat Jan 16, 2021 2:43 pm

Would the hydraulics on a Cub with the lift arm for a plow, pick up a 2 row planter attached to the drawbar?? Considering modifying a 3 point attachment to one fastened to the drawbar w/a chain back to the frame mid-point or rear! Has anyone put anything like that together (except Sonny! LOL!). Lots of effort and $$ for a few rows of sweet corn and an acre of food plot!! Pics of anything similar would be great! Dusty B :help:

If it doen't weigh more than a single gang disk harrow, it should pick it up.

I would say it depends a lot on the planter, some planters are a lot heavier than others. If it fertilizer hoppers, it can get quite heavy, real fast. It will also be important to connect it as close, as you can, to the tractor.

Tentatively thinking of a 2 point hinged attachment at each side of the drawbar!? Not really concerned about having fertilizer boxes or using them if available! No larger area than I have , probably wouldn't even fill seed boxes completely.

Solved the problem!! Threw a wad of Uncle Joe's stimulus $$'s at it, bought a 2 row JD (pardon my language) that has wheels, fertilizer boxes, markers, pull hitch!! Owner is kindly adjusting it to 30" rows in his shop this winter and checking it out so should be field ready!!! Now I won't have to be fighting the 3 pt. on and off my big tractor.
