Rear Light Bracket Placement?

Postby Chiefandbb » Sat Jan 07, 2006 5:14 pm

I have a 48 Farmall Cub. The rear light bracket is welded to the battery box. Is this original - if not where does the bracket attach? Thanks, Curley Smith, Villa Rica, GA

The rear light bracket is supposed to bolt to the back of the battery box using 2 bolts.

On my lowboy it was spot welded to the origional battery Box. Right now it is on the workbench. I am afradi to bolt it to the cheap thin rseplacement box I bought from Wengers.

They were welded to the box as shown in Bud's picture.

I have seen good ones at TM too. Just don't need a light in the rear at present and when I am up the country finishing the house is first priority. Well that is first after keeping my butt from freezing.

Hey BL,

I bought a cheap replacement off eBay (priorities did not allow me to buy the best parts for everything), and the tab for the work light is pretty thin, but I mounted my work light to it and it's holding just fine. It wiggles a bit, but I can fix that with a bolt or two coming from the inside out if I wanted to, but so far (there's those priorities again) I haven't had the inclination.

Hope all's well with you and yours.

You can still get the battery box from Case/IH. I believe that it about $75 (just the box). The 50 has no bottom, but I am not ready for a new one just yet.

Here is a shot of the light. Note the flasher near the battery cable, I haven't put the warning light bracket on yet (just got a new light fixture, hard to find a two sided one) and when I do that I will also wire up the light. The connectors are very hard to find. The later model Cubs had a bracket on the left fender with a flashing yellow light.

Hey Buzzard, your yellow looks really good, didn't quite understand your comments in the last sentance about connectors etc?

The bracket which is welded to the batt box then holds the actual lightbracket bolted on with two bolts is exactly the same as the French Cubs. (I am sure someone will be interested in that :?:  )

BW,

Where did you get the new warning light fixture and can you give me a part number? Thanks.
