Lo-Boy sickle mower

Postby Hiltycub » Wed May 04, 2022 8:00 am

can you show pictures of the c22 hooked up to the lo boy? I have a 1959 cub lo boy and bought a c22 sickle. I would like to make it work for the lo boy.

Thanks

No. There is too much difference. You can see several pictures of the CUB-22 on a Farmall and an L-22 on a Lo-Boy by going to the TM site (link at bottom of page) and going to the photo section.

Hiltycub, welcome to the forum. Here's a link to the photos that Jim mentioned: http://www.tmtractor.com/tm-tractor/gim/22com_001.htm

Thanks for the link. Another form had a post that said they successfully hooked up the c22 to the lo-boy. Just had to modify bracket hooked to final drive. This appears to be possible from dimensions I have. It would just be a few inches lower. I was hoping to get pictures and input from the blogger that said this worked for them.

Thanks for the help.

The front hanger bracket is also considerably different and would require extensive modification. You can see that in the photos.

Hooked up is one thing, make it work may be another. It is certainly possible to hang the front of a Cub-22 on the bell housing of a Lo-Boy. The flywheel shield will be close to the ground. Okay if you want to park it at a tractor show. Probably useless for actual mowing.

Sickle bar mower on a cub Loboy is useless in tall stuff. First pass works fine, next pass, the mowed material wraps around the drive, and. you come to a screeching halt, (Loud screeching, as the shaft locks up). I tried mowing 3 to 4 foot rye cover crop, and that was my ending.

Hi,
I've had a Cub with a Cub 22 Mower for decades, and mowed grass of every height, up to higher than the top of the hood.
My friend had another Cub with Cub 22 Mower. We used to mow tall grass that they baled for hay.
The Cubs and mowers worked fine, nothing wound up on the drive that caused any problem.

The mower is supposed to have a shield at the front, under the flywheel and where the pitman connects to the flywheel.
I've seen pics of mowers with no shields, they probably get broken off hitting things.
There is supposed to be a shield at the rear pulley also.

I'm just saying how the Cub 22 Mower works for me, on a Cub.
I don't know how well the LoBoy 22 Mower works in high grass, I don't have a Cub LoBoy.

Below are pics from TM Tractor of a Cub 22 Mower with the front shield. :)

Glen, I meant the loboy, that was what Hillyboy was trying to adapt to. I just edited my post.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I will put more thought into possible trying. I have the same issue with the 192 mouldboard plow. It fits to the cub. I of coarse have the lo boy . I got the attachments for a good price. They are in good shape with all parts.

Hi,
Sorry Ed, I didn't know you meant the LoBoy, it didn't say in your post.
