Dad's LoBoy
Dad is starting to go back together with his '60 LoBoy. Here are some "before" and "in progress" pics. I think it's going to turn out pretty good.

Harold,
I hope Dad is as enthusiastic now on the home stretch as he was at the beginning. That's probably the case, since he's now where the real reward is. I'm sure it will be a great tractor, and he'll really enjoy driving and using it... it sure looks like it now.
I noticed something odd in the "before" pictures that Shorty had too. The left axle was set out farther then the right. I know about setting it out on the right side when using the disk plow, but have no idea why set the left out. Maybe someone has the answer?
(Shorty's all well now, with Gary Dotson's help!)

George, I still have the mower on my lo-boy and I believe the left axle is set out to clear the deck while turning.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

I think BD has the answer as my Dad's loboy was used mostly for mowing by the previous owner. I think Dad set the axle back in, just to align the front with the back. No intentions to mow with it in the future. He sure did good on that grill. It had a crease among the twist and bends. We speculated that was the reason for the bumper. LOL I had written it off.

George,
As strange as it may sound, he enjoys the process more. He's giving me the tractor when he's finished getting it back together. He doesn't have much room or any use for a tractor at his home since it's a small place. The '68 model you see in the background hasn't moved in over a month. It's for sale, but he's not advertising it much. Once he's done with the loboy.....he'll find another...(Dan's?????maybe). It gives us time together, keeps him busy, and I learn. Learn the stuff he really didn't want me to learn as a kid, fearing I would follow his footsteps, and make a living in a machine shop. I don't know what to thank him for the most......what he taught me then....or what he's teaching me now.

Harold: In a previous post I mentioned the possibility of buying another Cub and then selling one or more. I was told that the Cub was in excellent shape except for a crack in the housing below the radiator. I can remedy that problem so that was not a real concern. I found out yesterday that there is a crack in the motor and that is a major concern to me. I am scheduled to drive over to see it Sunday afternoon. However, I have decided to call tonight and cancel the visit. Too much expense in having it welded, a good chance that a weld won't solve the problem, plus resale value takes a real hit with a weld on the motor. There is still a possibility that I may sell the one in Monroe. I will let you know before I do. Your dad is doing a great job on the LO-Boy. Dan
