WAS THE TRADE WORTH IT

Postby John(videodoc) » Sat Jan 28, 2006 6:33 pm

Well that demo cub owner has decided he cant ascend to the chair anymore and wanted to trade, so he came over today, and we worked out a deal. wanting to know if what i did sounds like a fair deal.

i traded one - 184 Image
for
1950 F Cub demonstrator
Image
and a
corn planter (no lid- anybody cut a lead on one)
and a
14" plow (one blade, with disk(wheel) in front, unknown #)
and a
sickle mower (needs pitman arm, anyone got a lead on one)
and
the cultivators
and
the rear weights
and
sandblasting, priming and painting of all the above implements (i buy paint only)
and
sand blast, prime and paint a trailer running gear i got,
and
sand blast, prime, and paint that sulky i got from dads junk pile, and replace hitch,
and
repair grain wagon i got
and $500 cash

what you think? did i do a good trade?or did i get taken. The 184 had fresh paint on it, other than that i know nothing. The history on this one i know, i'm third owner. 1st IH salesman, 2nd PO, and then me.

The pitman arm you can get at your Case/IH dealer.

And to think, the demo Cub owner could have solved all his problems with one of Rick's steps!!! :{_}:

I admired that 184 tractor, but it looks like he made you an offer you couldn't refuse! You can make a pittman if you have the metal ends. Good deal! Larry

May not be a Cub plow, but on the other hand a 14" bottom will bolt on a Cub beam. What is the part number stamped into the beam?

Sounds like a good deal but that IS a pretty good looking 184. . .

Pitman arm

Postby allenlook » Sun Jan 29, 2006 8:45 am

Wow, great trade! It would have been tough to part with that loboy tho...

You can probably get a pitman arm at Tractor Supply Company, or you can make one from the dimensions on the "Cub Server."

1. serial number is exatly in the middle of what is believed to be the demo cubs.

2. the 14" was not measured by me, but a beleived measurement from the PO. So it may be the 12", as they have used it on this tractor. I did see the unit, and it looks like ones ive seen at cubarama. the one with a "disk" in front of the plow.

3. The 184 was in great shape, and a great piece of IH history. However, i didnt need a 4th 5ft mowing deck, and rather have what i got. It was hard to let go though, as its serial number put last year of production for that model. And i was sure to beat BD for "newest cub" at cubarama this fall, but that opportunity is gone now.

4. I've been wanting this tractor since i got bit by the farmall cub bug. It was hard to coneal it. Even had to walk away (didnt want to give up how much i wanted the unit), and they chased me done and add the $ to the deal.

5. Any leads on the corn planter lid?

Videodoc: Do you have a parts number for the corn planter lid? I have parts for a couple of planters. Neither planter is complete. Dan
