Here's a Fun One...

Postby Stanton » Sun Sep 18, 2022 4:02 pm

While installing the fuel line to the fuel bowl assembly, I cross-threaded it last week. Fun.

Had a Helicoil kit on hand to put in a new set of threads. Prolonged Fun.

Didn't have the 33/64" drill bit required for the Helicoil kit. Agitated Fun.

Ordered a new 33/64" drill bit from TSC (free shipping to their store). Patiently Waiting Fun.

After 3 days, bit arrived. Took the new drill bit out in the shop this afternoon, straight out of the plastic box that read 33/64" on the label. Having Some Fun Now.

Drilled hole was obviously WAY TOO BIG. The Helicoil tap just fell into the hole. Disappointed Fun.

Read size on drill bit...wait for it...it read 19/32". Most fun of all--realizing that packaging labels and actual drill bit sizes can be different (your mileage my vary). Kicking myself from the barn to the house FUN.

In all seriousness, make sure you verify that the drill bit you're using is actually the size you need. My assumption was the new bit in new box was correct. Good thing I has also ordered a new fuel bowl assembly from TM Tractor the same time I ordered that bit. Will be putting on the new fuel bowl.

You can probably repair it with an EZ-lok.

Got the new fuel bowl installed. Saw that the old fuel line had a crooked ferrule on the carb end, so used a spare 5/16" steel brake line on hand to make a new fuel line.

Was able to drive Nellie around the back yard for the first time in many, many months.

Ahhhh, the most FUN of all. :D

I could not say tractor when I was 2 years old so I called it Err Err.

I loved this tractor then and I still love it now.
