Cub carb question...
The carb on my cub has been plugged with rust from the tank, what I would like to know is how involved is it to take the carb off to clean. Is there anything that has to be unhooked?

Rust
There are a couple of "safeguards" against rust getting to your carb, so in order of "fuel flow", check the following...
1. Your sediment bowl must be full of gunk? If so, remove the bowl and clean it out very well.
2. Your screen (in the top of your sediment bowl assembly) must be leaking, warped, torn, or missing. Get a new one (thankfully they're really cheap.)
3. Remove the fuel line from the carburetor and look inside the fuel inlet, there's a little screen in there that can be carefully pulled out with a dental pick, or pushed out with the same once the carb is taken apart. Make sure it's nice and clean.
You may have found enough gunk in those three spots to alleviate your problem. If not, you will have to take apart your carburetor, and once you get into that, you will need Lurker Carl's PowerPoint slides from the Cub Server, at http://www.cleancomputes.com/Cub.
Hope that helps!

Tractorfan1, I think you will find the process amazingly simple. You will just need to unhook the choke and throttle linkage, fuel line and unbolt the carb. There is a screen at the inlet which may be plugged if your tank was rusty. You may need a new carb to manifold gasket if the carb has not been removed for a while. But if you put a rebuild kit in the carb while you have it off, it should have that gasket.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
