IH and Zenith carb...

Postby tractorfan1 » Fri Feb 10, 2006 1:18 pm

The carb on my 48 cub has an IH symbol on it, so I would assume it's an IH carb. I went to a local part's store and they sold me a carb kit which say's on the booklet that came with the kit "Zenith Carburetor Serie's-61-62-67-68-161-267".
Will this work with my IH carb? Thank's in advance...

No, it will not work. Go back to the dealer and tell him/her that you need p/n 354 454 R92. That would be the correct service package for your IH carb.

No it sure won't. Tell them you need the kit for the IH carb.

The part number for the kit is 354454R92

Your best bet is to get a case/IH kit. They are still availible from a case
dealer or TM Tractor has one listed on thier site. The aftermarket kits are not complete, most don't have the all the felt seals. I have learned the hard way. They are not cheap but you get what you pay for.

I don't know about the local parts stores but I had an off brand kit given to me and what a nightmare.. I went to my International dealer and all he asked me was the serial # and $34.00 later it actually worked. (after my son did the clear hose thinggy to set the float setting). Hardest part was getting all the shellac out of the carb and making sure it was CLEAN!! Can't stress that enough!!! CLEAN CLEAN. Tank all the way down. Smile. After it's all done its well worth your time and $$$$. Your tractor will treat you better too.!!

TF1:

Call Arbings in Sussex and ask for John. Then tell John you need an IH Kit for the 3/45" Updraft IH Carb. It will be on the next bus to ya...

Trust me, he knows what he is doing.

Also, he has a Spectre Kit. This kit does contain a few pieces that may be missing in the IH Kit... but this is needed only on a MAJOR rebuild of the kit.

If you have any questions... you know my phone number....
