valve lashing
I read how to set the valves with cylinder 1 and 4 at TDC and how to use the timing marks to find when cylinder one is at TDC but whats the easiest way to know when cylinder four is at TDC? It also said to set at .013" correct

Jake. It's .015" when cold .........
I believe that one full revolution from #1 TDC (guys, correct me if I'm wrong!) will put #4 at TDC. To be sure, take the plug out of #4 and put your thumb/finger over the plug hole and rotate till you get outward pressure and line up your timing line with the pointer (same as #1 TDC procedure).
Hope ths helps ................

Ron, thanks for the information, but can you tell me the name of the manual that says adjust the valves at .015 cold. Mine all says .013. Got me curious now. Thanks.
That statement made my eyes perk up also. I have all my Cubs set at .013 as it says in my books and also from advice from others on this board.
Then came Bronson

Hot and Cold
The manual says set at .015 cold .013 hot. The .002 allow for expansion.
So many tractors, so little time......
