Either is better than neither. All of them that I have seen are red or have remains of red on them, although I remember a post from way, way back by I believe Jim Becker that stated that the paint committee had decided that ground-engaging equipment would be colored blue?

I believe red would be correct. But you can paint it whatever color looks good to you. I have seen them red, yellow, white and blue. I don't know if blue was an original color or not.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.
