Photos of CT Snow Storm and a Tractor Update

Below are a couple of photos I shot about an hour ago sticking my head out of my workshop during a cub-break. :)

Right now we seem to have about a foot of the white stuff and it's still snowing like mad. It makes a great day to work in the shop. The only sad part is that my Cub isn't ready to play in it yet.

Today was a turning point in my Cub project, the first parts to go back on! I updated my website with today's photos. It doesn't look like much but it felt like a milestone to me, to stop taking things apart and start putting them back together.

Have a great Sunday all!

Looks like we got some snow over my way too.... expected a real bad ride from up north, but it was pretty decent until just below Boston. They managed to scare folks off the roads. Pretty windy!

Wives telephone reports of horrendous snow were grossly overblown! It was nice to travel in a 4 door heavy duty Ram 2500. Had 300 miles on it when we started on Thursday.

I have all the parts needed to put the transmission back together.... forgot the countershaft gasket when I was ordering the parts. I ordered it Thursday afternoon from C&G and it was in the mailbox when I got home today!

Here's my girl earning her keep today...

8"-9"+ on the ground now with likely several more to come before the show is over. Windy too. Snow's light so I can run 3rd gear on the first pass.

JimCT,

That picture is sweet! Can't wait until I can get my Cub out in the snow. Unfortunately it'll be next winter... :-(

I have to go out and run my Craftsman Tractor w/snowblower attachment now. :-(

Snow

Postby allenlook » Sun Feb 12, 2006 6:31 pm

Only got an inch here in Upstate NY, but it gave me plenty of time to put the drawbar back on the tractor, play with this'n'that, and take it for a quick spin with my new CarryAll to try it out. I mounted a Category 3 hitch receiver on my drawbar and then mounted the extra-capacity platform I used to use with my Expedition on the back. Works great :D

Had a good half hour in the hot tub with the stars showing and a few snowflakes coming down. A fantastic day overall :D

Fun in the Snow

Postby Peter Person » Sun Feb 12, 2006 8:21 pm

We had about 16" here in Stafford. My 13 year old son had his first real snowfall to plow. No pictures, hav'nt sprung for a digital camera yet. While he was on the Cub, I fired up my 1963 Snowbird. I guess old iron is in my blood. My 4 year old daughter wanted a ride while we plowed, so she stood on the platform holding on to the steering wheel while the 13 year old was pulled along on his sled behind. I know when we decide to split it apart for the overhaul (front & rear engine oil seals leak alot) we will probably miss a few winters with it.
Anyway, a lot of fun was had. Sure it was windy and snow was in our faces, but the guys with the F350 Super Duty's with heat, automatic back scratchers, and latte's in the cup holders still honk & wave when they go by.
Snow.........bring it on!!!!

Funny, but I have an old Snowbird too. After a lot of effort on the fuel system last year (mmmm carb with no bowl or float??!) I broke the recoil after a big snow fall.... BUT, the Cubs take priority. Lots less sheetmetal to remove and just more fun to work on.

Thanks Thackery...

If you need any advice on how to take a Cub apart, I'll be happy to help.

However if you need help putting one back together, you may want to ask someone else. :-)
