carb leaking
I rebuilt my carb yesterday and it seems to be running alright but its still leaking from the small "hole" underneath the choke lever. Is the float not set correctly or should this thing just not leak

Float
The float may just be stuck down, I've had that happen several times after rebuilding my carbs, or there may be some schmoo stuck in the valve above it.
I shut off the fuel and drain the carb from the bottom plug, then gently poke the float with a wire to make sure it's not stuck down or binding on the side of the carb.
It's usually binding a little bit and once I get it set straight everything's OK - or maybe it's even just the draining and the refilling of the carb, I don't know. Don't "whack" the carb on the side to try to free up the float, it usually doesn't help

Jake,
Don't get all choked up like most guys do over the float valve. It isn't very likely to be the cause of your problem. More likely is a leak that bypasses the float valve, and the needle itself is doing its' job. It's amazing how rough the surfaces are that those hard red washers are supposed to seal against. I use a two pronged approach... Flatten the rough surfaces using machinist hand tools, and coat the washers on both sides with a sealer. For good measure, to make sure the needle and seat fit well, I put the needle into the installed cage and tap it slightly with a very small hammer. NO MORE LEAKS!
To coat the washers sparingly, I use two small pieces of cardboard (cereal box or similar). Put a dab of black Permatex between them and work them around until it's just a thin film and put the washers between them and work them around some more. The result is a thin film of Permatex on the washers that will do the sealing without any extra to plug things up. The washers are on the float needle cage, the venturi nozzle, and for good measure, the main jet.

Excellent idea I will try that on my next carb rebuild.

Wet
I notice mine's not actively dripping, but the surface of the carb is "wet" if you know what I mean. It looks like gas might be seeping out past the inlet pipe and creeping along the gasket and then just kind of slowly working it's way across the outside of the carb.
