Cub Running

Postby Bob Grieb » Sun Aug 06, 2006 4:38 pm

:D :D :D

Today I got the Cub started for the first time since I took it apart. I was very excited that I had it running within 5 minutes after the first attempt. I had two plug wires crossed and I found the problem within a few minutes. Turned it over and it took off. I do not have the tank on as I am waiting for paint. I used a tank off of a lawn tractor for the exercise.

I am not sure how it will operate under load but it purrs at idle. I may be looking for ideas on carburetor adjustments as it seem to be a little slugish when attempting to increase RPM quickly.

I have great oil pressure :D :D :D :D :D

As I have had the engine down and rebuilt the carburetor I am very excited to have it running - Sounds GREAT!!! 8) 8) 8) 8)

Are there any carberator adjustments other than idle jet and linkedge?

I hope to have the tank painted soon and be taking a ride on the "Red Devil"

Thanks for all your help in the process of reworking the CUB

Bob

Checking ignition timing is very worthwhile. Incorrect timing can mimic certain fuel system problems.

There are no high speed adjustments. I sure would check the timing. Is it a distributor or a mag?
By the way congrats. Don't it feel good to hear it run the first time. :D :D :D

It's a mag. And yes if felt great hearing it run the first time. I had to take mama out to dinner but first thin in the morning I will check the timing.

Bob,

Great news! It's all down hill from here. Are you going to the Minden. NV. show on the 18th & 19th?

Hi Brent

I will not be going to the show and I cannot get the Cub to run. On Sunday it started and ran off and on all day. On Monday it would not run and has not run since. I have been working three whole days tring to get it to run. As you can see on this forum I have had a lot of help but no lick getting it to run.

I have been focused on Caruration but I need to look elsewhere. If you have any ides I am all ears.

Have a good time at the show

Bob
