Hi everbody, am I missing something very obvious? How does one get the governor to pull out of the housing? It looks like it should just pull out, but they just don't want to separate. Any hints? Thanks - Lance :oops:

the two halves are simply friction fit. a few taps with a ballpeen, holding one half and tapping the other away from one another will do it. warning...do it over the bench so as not to drop it

oh, and it only goes in one way. you can't rotate it. the I& T manual says "dissassembly will be apparant" :lol: wasn't for me either, the first time :lol:

37 taps later... They are separated! Thanks for your help. :D

Now the question is how dirty should the governor be inside. I assume it is being lubricated from an oily mist?

Unless the cub is worked hard they frequnelty have alot of sludge. The timing gears throw oil inot a small pocket just above the governor housing where it drains down through the hole at the top and drips onto it.
