6 or 12 Volt?

Number 239478 followed me home. I think its a 1972 model, was it 6 or 12 volt from the factory. And I assume if its 6 volt it should be pos. ground and neg. ground for 12 volt?

12 volt, negative ground. Here's the wiring diagram, if you need it.

I believe the ground cable attached to a bolt hole in the top of the battery box. However, any good ground in a storm :)
