The History of Farmallcub.com?Seeing the post about BigDog's 10,000th post got me to thinking. Exactly when/how did Farmallcub.com get started? I signed on in 2004, didn't post a whole lot back then, when I did it was about the @#(@#( Cub power unit in my 52R combine. Today, I can remember Jim Becker, John @#(*#$ Cub Owner, and a few others from way back in the early days of the ATIS listserv. But I just can't remember when I first heard about this site. So would it be appropriate for some of the "plankowners" of the site, the ones that have been around since the beginning, to share some stories, for the newer members and those of us who are just curious, of how this site came to be?

IH's are RED. Just say NO to yellow and white! Let us pray for farmers and all who prepare the soil for planting, that the seeds they sow may lead to a bountiful harvest.
It would be neat to know a comprehensive story. We've heard bits and pieces at different times as they've related to various discussions.

Many of us were members of the old list before it crashed and burned, and were also members of the ATIS forum as well. This is where the family began.... If you go to the Many of these members are still here and very active and some are Cub Pro's as well. In for the long haul..... This site has a wonderful history, and it's history is a story told by each member and has 3400 + chapters. Be some interesting to read huh?? Dennis tells the story best. He came up with the idea and attributes the early success of this site to the four members that I consider to be the "Founding Fathers" of this site; George Willer, Elliott Domans, John Puckett, and Darrell Ratliff. Someone took a picture of these four at Cubfest last year and sent it to me. I can't find it at the moment, but when I do, Ill post it.

FarmallCub.Com's birthday is 5/10/1999- that is the date I registered the domain name.
If you click here: http://web.archive.org/web/200101191342 ... llcub.com/ You will see the oldest archived view of what the site looked like in January of 2001. 18,000+ visitors at that time... we've seen a little more traffic since then. ![]() Last edited by Dennis on Fri Sep 21, 2007 10:16 pm, edited 1 time in total.
But Dennis - I don't think I ever heard or read how you got into Cubs. Do you own some today, and did you work on them as a kid? You must be tied into cubs one way or another to create a Cub oreinted forum !

I've been here four years, and I still don't know who H. L. Chauvin is. Is that sacreligious? Care and feeding of family's Ford 641 ('61)

Henry L. Chauvin is a fine man whose country folksy way of explaining stuff is sort of almost classical. He certainly can explain troubleshooting using a version of the KISS rule that one hardly sees anymore. I heard much of HL and his posts on the old ATIS Forum.. in the early years which probably would have been around 1995-1996. I joined in late 2001 when I got Ellie I think or just before.. and Henry was still posting occassionaly on ATIS thankfully and I have managed to save a number of Henry's folksy bits of wisdom and troubleshooting tips, that I am eventually going to post on the Cub Manual Server. Henry and I have had a number of good chats and emails. I am honoured to have been able to correspond with him over the years. This is a very interesting thread; I've been wondering how it all came about.

I remember how unfreindly the old forum software was and the turmol it caused when we switched over to this version. We lost some members that coulnd't deal with the change
