Choke shaft dia.- slipped choke shaft into...then 3/16 HS drillbit into. Same size..3/16 then?

seems to be another difference. All my housings that I checked are 1/4"(.250) and the shafts are 1/4" too. Just enough +/- clearance for the shaft to slide in.

I was afraid of that, when I get home tonight I'll cross reference the different part listings I have in the PDF files, but I was guessing that was going to be the case?

My shaft is definitly the size of a 3/16 drill bit. I tried a 1/4 and that is way to big. The choke shaft is also a bit smaller dia than the throttle shaft? I don't have time to pull the t. shaft right now as "The Big R" is calling for a noon start. Going to be a wet dog today When I get home late tonight I'll take some detailed pics with the bits, etc.

Well, I'm not giving up that easily. We'll figure something out, might have to start producing an EFI system for the Cub at this rate.

Need to ponder on this some more,,,,,,,,,Guess I need to make a trip to the Mom & Pop lawnmower repair shop and chat with the owner about B&S carbs? He might have some or insight

Well, you could always ream the 3/16 holes out to 1/4, add a later choke shaft and make it completely a later base to match the later throttle body. Would save searching for oddball parts.

I know from now on at the shows, I'll be looking for these unique carbs, especially on those original '47 cubs

Warning, you'll "Probably" need a drill press, but not to modify the carb, but to modify an item to "Use" as a retainer?

I want to have Chris try it, I thought it over last night as I was soldering up the 6V to 12V up-convertor I'm designing. This is the circuit I told you & George about at CubTug and Rudi has shown some interest in it now.

Just so happens I "Spilled" some IC chips off my bench onto the floor last night, and saw one of the little "Washers" laying on the floor under my bench. The idea popped into my head, but it was almost midnight so I didn't get a chance to try it yet.

Chris, by the way, you might have to make "Two Sizes" of the custom retainer using two of the items, of course 2 different sized holes in the jig to form each one? That way the 2 piece's might "Sit Inside" each other?

Be sure to let me know if you try it, when I get home from work today I might give it a shot myself if you haven't already tried it?

Rick, if the idea works, I'll be sure to share it. Things have been a little hectic at home & work, and my digital camera is on the fritz too.
