Missing Air Cleaner

Hi All
Just bought my Cub a couple of weeks ago, got it home, and have only run it a few times. To my astonishment, last week when I went to shoot some ether in the intake to help with starting, I noticed a gap, where obviously the air cleaner should be installed.
Needless to say, I am now in the market for an aircleaner. How do I tell if I want the long body style or the short body style? My Cub is a 1949 model.
Thanks

David,
You want a long one. Vertical exhaust... long intake, underslung exhaust... short intake.

Don't forget, the cup is usually sold seperately.
Air Cleaner connection to Carb Intake Manifold

IS the connection between the air cleaner and intake manifold a flexible connection?
Is there a part no for it, or is it just a small piece of hose? What size hose ... looks like 1 1/4"? Does it have to be high temp?
Thanks

oemtractorparts.com lists the size as 1 1/4" X 2 1/2". Standard hose will do the job.

On a 49, the original would have been a curved metal pipe with a short coupling hose at each end. If your carb has been replaced with a Zenith you need a larger hose at the carb end reduced to fit the pipe. According to the parts book, the pipe was replaced with a 1 piece hose at serial 248125.
