replacement front tires

Primer Pete needs new sneakers but the front ones advertized by Tucker are a straight 3 rib design. the Armstrong tires on it have the scalloped outside design that i think is the original type? i like the look of the scalloped type better, are they available?

i think on the rear i will go with 9.5 tires, same as on it currently. the larger tires seem to "fit" the tractor visually. But i have a 7" and an 8" rim so i have to look for another 8" rim to match.

so, were the scalloped type the original, or typically used on early cubs? Miller or Tucker or someone else :?:

Art.C I am going monday to get the tires for my wife's low-boy I am going with the Firestone champion guide grips for the front they are a 3 rib tire the side ribs are notched I like the looks of them also. Iam going with the firestone guide grips on the rear altought not the oringinal tread but I want the extra traction. the fronts were about $45.00 ea. and the rears (8.3) were about $135.00ea. the (9.3) probably wound'nt be much more you can check out Firestone web site at http://www.firestonetires.com & look under tractor or ag.tires hope this helps my second choice was going to be goodyear most of my cubs had one or two of the orginal firestone tires I have one with an Goodyear (9.3) I like the look of them also . one question I have do you have an fast hitch or plow depht leaver if so do the 9.5 tires rub on them because they are alittle wider tire? Thanks Dave F.

I will need to get fronts on mine as soon as I get. They are cracked so bad I swear in a few spots I can see the tube!

I like the scalloped type as well. But Tuckers price seems darn good.
When I look at vintage photos of Cubs I've seen both styles so I'm not sure if there was a "correct" one or not. Would like to know.

Boy does that picture bring back memories. It was taken before my time but, I remember when my Dad brought our first Cub home all the neighbors gathered around just like the picture. Those were the days :!:

Art,
I just got mine mounted yesterday, took them to my local tire shop..... best 10 bucks I've spent in a while, didn't even pinch the tubes  .
Like Guy's, mine were cracked and worn to the point of being about useless. The ones I got are anout the same as Tucker sells. Nice tri-rib with the rim gaurd. I'm real satisfied with them. I run tri-ribs on my cub cadets too, you can't beat them on a garden tractor.
I'll get the wieghts painted "correct" when it warms up a little.
