I have it ! The exhaust below the hood of number 1 is a gas tank heater that works in conjunction with the gas line trap for winter operation.

By looking at how bloated the carb to air cleaner hose is, you may be right.
Or, he used a radiator hose off a '68 Buick.
Personally, I think #1 belongs to a Nascar pit crew member, used for practice during the "off" season. (Note the air gun ready, gas cap already removed.)

I really dig the "garbage can" implement mounted on the grill of contestand number 2. My vote goes for number 1 for the burnt paint.

Sure thing, Dennis. He's ready any time. His appearance does change from time to time, but he gets in better shape mechanically. He's had a weak cylinder and smoked, so the next change will be an engine swap. I had the replacement engine in Marilyn's Cub and gave it a good test, so now that I have her engine ready, I'll swap it back. The only problem... the engine is RED! It does run really nice now, though.

I have no plan to lose his great patina!
