I love our front mounted you can see everything thats going on. It works really well angles to both sides not sure how many degrees but there are 5 different positions. Use it to plow snow but also have used to to push dirt and stones. For heavy stuff we had to put some weight on the frame of the blade to keep it down and pushing.

A complete Front/Belly mount blade should come with everything to mount either way. do you have fast hitch? then you can use rear mount blade

71Nova. If it's a 54A like mine, then it probably rotates 11 & 22 degrees left and right, plus straight for the 5 positions. You think?

Ron,
That sounds right to me.

Yup,

Your front mount should be able to go mid-mount for sure, by moving parts of the hardware back to the drawbar. I'm going to try setting mine up that way this summer as I think it will make a lot nicer job grading the driveway than out the front.

Can i ask why it would be nicer for grading? Not saying it is wrong just wondering your reasoning?

When the blade is front mounted, each up and down movement of the wheels as they go over humps, into holes, etc. are exagerated at the blade. When it is in the middle position it tends more to average the wheel up and down movements. I don't know if that makes much sense, but think of a 10 foot long board, with a concrete block under one end, and another one 7 feet from the first. which leaves one end of the board sticking out about 3 feet. As either block is moved up or down, the end of the board moves more than the block, but the spot halfway between the blocks moves less than the block. When you combine this with the fact that the linkage for the lift moves the front mount blade faster than when in the middle you can also make more precise adjustments.

Your in luck. Recently I had to replace the blade (54A) on my 56 Cub and IH doesn't make them anymore. I went to the JP Tractor Salvage website(link on Farmall home pge) and was able to find the whole implement or just the blade. I ordered the blade for $100 plus shipping what a deal. You can still order the cutting edge from IH so you don't wear out the bottom of the blade (recommended). Also there was a snow extension plate that bolted to the top of the blade but is not available anymore. I had a machine shop make me up this extension and besides making the blade larger it helps the snow roll off the blade better. I sanded everything down and repainted then waxed. Just used it for the first time Saturday & Monday and it was like a hot knife cutting thru butter. LIFE IS GOOD.

There's one for sale in NW North Carolina right now. Don't know whether that's too far from you or not. Check this out.
