I Bought a 1962 International Cub Lo-Boy Ser # 16152J which came with a dead 12 volt battery. I replaced the 12 volt battery with a new one with the battery negative ground and it starts and runs fine but the battery just keeps discharging and once shut off the Lo-Boy will not restart unless jump started. On further research I crossed referenced the starter ser# 1109611 as a 6 volt starter. I am now wondering if I should purchase a 6 volt battery and positive ground it and see if the generator will keep the 6 volt battery charged as I'm wondering if this system is still a 6 volt system. Any advice is greatly appreciated in advance and I'm wondering if I may have done damage using a 12 volt battery on what may be a 6 volt system. I've posted on this before but am still confused.

Most half--- 12 volt conversins don't include the starter, so by itself it doesn't prove anything. Check the numbers on the generator and coil to see what voltager thay are intended for. Then make your choises based on what they tell you.
