I'm rebuilding several magnetos. Here's the first.

The parts are a little pricey but I like the mags better. Nice blue fire to a plug is always a good thing.
The best thing to rebuild these things is the TC-37F Parts manual. The Blue ribbon Service manual GSS-1012 was not much help for rebuilding.

That looks too good to put on a tractor. At least on one of mine anyway.

Did you glass bead blast it?

Great looking job Donny! I have one of those down in the barn that could use the same treatment. I guess I'll have to get on it one of these days.

I will get good documentation on the next one. May be a few weeks or so.

The mag may look good on the outside but it's what's inside that counts I'll try to post a picture of what was inside (rust).
The rotor was a nice color (colour for Rudi ) red rust. The coupling spring was in 2 pieces, the coil was open and the contacts on the points looked like the surface of Mars. The rotor retainer was in good shape though.

To clean up the body I used a fine brass (I know brass is yellow but doesn't show up) wire brush. I wish I would have had some glass beads or some walnut shell. Would have been a lot easier. I used the brass brush because I've seen deposits of steel impregnated into aluminium which after some time had turned to rust. Just a precaution.
