Farmall Cub

I have to add an original seat, and the headlights, but the weights are on and it is done for now. I can't get over how tight this thing is and how smooth it runs!! I just love this little tractor. I have been around the largest mining machinery in the world, it's my first love, but now I've fallen for this shrimp of a tractor!!!! Who would have guessed!!! And I've also found a great group of fellow Cub enthusiasts!!! Just one more pic. TimTwichell.

TimT: You did a nice job, Thats a fine looking Cub ya got there. It looks good even with that comfortable looking seat thats on it.

Good looking tractor! Tell us about the wheel weights. What kind are they? Are they installed backwards?

Very nice job Tim. Dont worry about the seat unless you really want it ti look original. I installed a folding bass boat seat on my 48. It was much nicer than the rusty old pan seat.

Where were you in the mining business? I am in construction and mining and am curious.

Danovercash, Now you bring my attention to the front weights!!! I never paid attention. They do look somewhat like the cub weights I see in the Iconografix Cub Gallery book, but they look added to, or heavier. I don't beleve we put them on backwords?? They wouldn't fit the turned around...or would they. Could they be from a garden tractor??? If any one knows please post. I will look at them more closely tommarow. They were on the tractor when we hauled it home. I think thats the way we took them off. Any suggestions as to what they are would be great. Thanks, TimT.

Those must be Cadet rear weights. Definitely heavier than the standard 26 pound cub front weights.

I agree big dog. They only have two bolt holes, and I think they are from a Cub Cadet or other garden tractor rear wheels. They go about 50 pounds or so. I guess they are OK. I kinda like them. We are only going to show that tractor or maybe a stock pull or two so I think they will be fine on it. Thanks.

I think the weights and seat both look fine. They are part of the history of your tractor. Someone used weights that were available and surely the seat was intended as an improvement. Neither cause harm. Why not keep them?:)

Could even be an "official" replacement. If you order one from Case/Ih, you get a Cub Cadet type seat and an adapter plate.
