I have just finished putting my touch control back on after rebuild, radiator after a clean out and repair, and generator after rebulid.
no leaks on touch control or cooling system, But having problems with charging system. This is a battery ignition system
The amp meter is staying in discharge all the time and goes more discharge when motor is at max RPM. HAve checked voltage on voltage regulator, reading are
idle: GEN= -0.6, F terminal= -0.6, BAT terminal= -3.61, and L terminal= -3.54
MAX RPM: GEN= -1.23, F terminal= -1.18, BAT terminal= 6.65, and L terminal- -6.8
ALL voltages are Volts DC
Can any one check there voltages and let me know what thay are getting and help me find out why the AMP meter is reading in discharge.

Did you re-polarize the generator when you rebuilt it? If not, your readings indicate it is charging in the opposite polarity. First, make sure the battery is installed with the positive terminal grounded, then, with the tractor not running, momentarily touch a jumper wire from the battery terminal to the generator terminal on the voltage regulator. You should see a spark when you do this. Now start the tractor and see if it's charging.
Bigdog If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.My wife says I don't listen to her. - - - - - - - - Or something like that! http://www.cubtug.com

Bigdog thanks for the information.
I did polarized the Generator before starting, but afier looking at some more wireing diragrams anouther question has came up. I wired the generator back up like it was when I took it apaart, the question is which terminal on the generator is the field and which is armiture terminal. I have it as armature on outside side and field on inside of tractor.

I'm having the same problem. How long will the tractor run before the battery runs down? Mine will run for several weeks. It would seem if I am on the wrong polority the battery would be run down fairly swiftly. It has been like this for the two years I have owned the tractor. I have been thinking of having the generator rebuilt. I may get a set of brushes and do it myself. Is that difficult? I have rebuilt a lot of alternators but no generators.
