Tune up

Postby Dave Irish » Sun Mar 21, 2004 4:27 pm

Hello, did my spring tune up over the week end. New points codenser, metallic core wires, plugs, timed her and adjusted valves. I am finding now the odd miss or pop pop from her at low idle. To day I re checked the points they are fine still pop pop. When I have a minute I will re check the valves. Any thoughts?

Thanks Dave

Kind of sounds like a sticky valve. You might try a little Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas tank.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

like DB said..... or like I did last week.... pulled each spark plug and put a few squirts of SeaFoam in each port and let it soak about 30 mins. Lots of strong exhaust fumes when you start her up but it usually takes care of a sticky valve.

Hi, Thanks for the input. Would a lot of carbon on new plugs and white exhuast also be symtoms of a sticky valve?

I hate to be so sitcky but I like the cub to purr.

Thanks as always
