Hood Gromet

Postby PAUL K. in N.H. » Sun Mar 28, 2004 6:05 am

Hi All

Hope everyone is doing well. The gromet on the hood where the light wire goes through measures 3/8 ID by 7/8 OD and 1/2 inch overall thickness, and the center groove is a good 1/8 inch. I looked in the parts book group 13 pages 5 and 6 and don't see it listed. Is there a part # for this, or is it the same as a hardware store item ? Have not been to the hardware store yet, but don't know if what they have will have a 1/8 inch groove. THANK YOU !! Paul K. in N.H.

The rubber hood grommets are listed with the electrical system. The part number is 365844R1. Have your dealer check for substitutions. 8)

Paul:

They are still available from CaseIH or rather CNH now. I ordered mine last fall. Pretty reasonable price and they are the real deal.

And actually the part number is:

120 302 Grommet, Rubber No 6 - in Hood -2- (Pag3e 28 Group 08 TC-37F Revision 6)

I haven't been able to locate them on the Case website though.

CB: where did you find that part number? Is the one you quoted a replacement?

Hi All

I was able to find them in the parts manual with Rudi's help. I am not good with the manuals at all. So I will try my dealer with the numbers from Rudi and Cub Bud , and if for some reason they don't have them, I will check at NAPA as Jack said. I have a dealer in state and a NAPA in town. THANK YOU ALL !!! Paul K. in N.H. :D

Rudi

I found that number in one of the three parts books I have. I couldn't find it in any of my parts tickets.....I have bought them from my dealer to use on both of my cubs. They are available from Case/IH. I don't know if that is the current number...that is why I suggested the check for subs.

CB:

That is what I figured. Couldn't get a decent hit at http://www.casetractorparts.com, so I figured it was a changed stock number. Will go have a look at my ticket tomorrow after I get back from the island, or maybe tonight if I get real energetic.

Hi All
I went to NAPA in town, as Jack said and picked up a four pack of grommets, part #784634 cost $2.50. They seem to fit pretty well in the hole of the hood on the 61 where the light wires pass through. The day before I called my IH dealer with a couple numbers posted above, one by Cub Bud 365844R1 and one by Rudi 120 302 He said he was going to send me a couple of each, and I said okay. The only differense between the one I took out and the NAPA one is the one from NAPA is a little more rounded and not sqaured off out to the edge. I think they will work fine and may not ever be seen by the correct police. When I get the ones from IH I will post if they look any different than the ones from NAPA. The way I figure it is I will have some extras, just incase I ever get another cub, which may or may not happen because I do things so slow due to mental illness. Paul K. in N.H.

Paul:

Keep us posted. Be nice to know if there is a difference. Oh, getting a second cub is not dependant upon you completing the first one, but the availability of the said tractor.

Also, working on a Cub is probably one of the best forms of therapy one can have. I have found that restoring things whether it be furniture or Cubs is very restful and sure fights depression and stuff. Being able to take something that is not in great shape or even running and bringing it back to life is akin to watching young things grow. It is a wonderous experience and a very fulfilling activity.

Stay active, play with your Cub, take your time, relax and enjoy your therapy. I know I sure enjoy mine!

Hi All

UPS left some grommets here today from dealer. Like I said before I told the dealer the # was 365844R1 from Cub bud or 120 302 from Rudi he says okay I will send you some of each. In the meantime I check out the ones at NAPA as Jack suggested and got a 4 pack for $2.50 they fit good and tight don't look just like the old one because they were rounded off but will work just fine. The grommets that came today from CASE IH the # is 248-1169 look just like the originals, not rounded over edges, but the groove in the middle is a little bigger so they move in and out a little, not a tight a fit as ones from NAPA. Well I know they are only grommets, but I need to contribute somehow on here. Paul K. in N.H.

Paul:

Excellent work! Now we know why sometimes parts are so hard to find - stock numbers change A LOT! :!:

As for your contribution, Paul the forum would be less without you. You ask some pretty darn good questions, and I personally have learned a lot just by seeing the answers to your questions. So I would say earnestly, that is a very valuable contribution.

Keep playing with your Cub!

Hi All
You have to LOL about this one, the dealer did say he would send me some of both of those numbers you folks gave me well UPS was here in the A.M. like I said and left #248-1169 they fit as I said above, well I went out for 10 minutes and I guess UPS was back and left grommet #117962 a CASE IH # will do the job also, they have a rounded edge sort of like the NAPA # I listed in the above post.
