Serial tag

Got my replacement serial tag from OEM yesterday. Took about 5 or 6 weeks, but it looks great. Stamped tag is $39. The only thing I wasn't happy aobut was the $8 handling and shipping charge for an item that came in an envelope with three 37 cent stamps on it.

It seems everybody feels the same way. I haven't figured out for the life of me why these companies and especially the guys on eBay charge such outrages fees for shipping and handling, except maybe to make more profit. There is no way it cost them $6.89 to put 3 stamps on an envelope
I guess that is the price we have to pay for service these days.....

They must be Democrats at OEM cause they always like to add on an extra tax or fee when they sell to a Rich-Person.

The rivets came with it.

Looks very nice. Could you please tell me how I can one for the monk.
Do the old rivets pull out easily or need to be drilled out.
Talked to John at JP Tractor in Fredricktown today. He and Jamie seem like nice folks. I would like to make it to their CubArama in September.

Call OEM Tractor at 1-800-283-2122. They will send you a form to fill out that allows you to pick the tag style and fill in the serial number. OEMs hours are 8-4:30 central time Monday through Friday. You can also go to their web site
http://www.oemtractorparts.com and request a catalog or download it on line. If you are on a dial up rather than dsl the download takes a while.
The rivets just pull out with a little persuasion. George Willer uses 2 very thin putty knives that he works in behind the tag to get the rivets out. I tried it, but due to talent and impatience one of them didn't come out correctly (one hole was already damaged). the only thing I saw that was not an exact match was that the rpm on the new one is stenciled, where on the roiginal one it was stamped

I have downloaded the OEM Tractor Parts catalog pdf.
Hate to admit but I didn't know there was a company that actually makes replacement parts for antique Farmall tractors. Looks like they have good quality stuff.
I ordered a PTO shield from John and Jamie yesterday. Do they get any of there stuff from OEM?
Anyway, thanks for this info. I feel much better now about buying another Farmall Cub

I would think that they would of at least stamped your ser. number at the same location on your tag as the original. Not that hard to do.

To all of you IH and Farmall owners. The best replacement serial number tags are done by Bob Diener 304-599-4027 he was a former IH engineer at Hinsdale has original punches and can make your new serial tag just like original and has original numbers.
We have two of them and you can not tell them from the originals.
