CUB 38 DISC QUESTION

Postby jmont54 » Tue Apr 27, 2004 3:55 pm

Hello again:
As usual need help. I have a Cub 38 disc and cannot adjust the angle of the gangs. The adjusting rods are placed in the most inside holes on each of the gangs, and with this placement there is a great angle between the gangs. This should be the widest setting but it is the closest setting possible in that there is no way to move the gangs in any more in that the inside hubs are now touching each other.

I have been wondering if these adjusting rods are correct for this disc. They appear to to originial as compared to the user manual for this disc. I know they made a L38 and the 38 and I assuming the L meant Lowboy. My manual seems to have the same lenght rods for both. The inside portion of the gangs have a "Hub Cap" and the outside has only the lock flange and nut.

Any Help would be appreciated.

I've only seen pictures of this disk, but I have drug an old pull type disk around the fields of West Central Ohio in the 60's and 70's. I think that you will find that the "hubcap" on the inside of the gang is actually the pivot point between the gangs. They probably will touch each other. They act as a thrust bearing surface between the gangs so that the frame doesn't have to hold the side pressure. At least, that is the way our old disk worked. :)
